Robert Hagstrom called investing The Last Liberal Art. It is what makes me excited about investing. Investing is more than the financial statement. Investing is problem solving. How do you know if a company is going to do well 10 years from now? That’s a problem. How do you solve it? You need tools. Many tools in your mental toolbox so you can use the right tool for each unique problem you’re trying to solve. Charlie Munger called them Mental Models. You need models from a wide-range of disciplines – physics, math, biology, history, psychology, philosophy, economics and so on to help you think well and make good decisions. This is what Musing Zebra is about. I learn from all sort of disciplines and figure out how to apply them into investing.
